The Dog Spa is a business I know well. It’s where I take my own dog, and over time I’ve come to know the staff and the care they put into their work. That familiarity shaped my approach to this Readers’ Choice thank-you ad. Rather than inventing personality, the goal was to reflect what already makes the business feel welcoming and trusted.
The design direction centered on finding an image that naturally aligned with The Dog Spa’s playful logo and tone. Once the right image surfaced, the layout came together quickly. I extended the background to fit the ad size and built the composition around the image itself, allowing its warmth and character to lead the design.
The layout stayed intentionally clean and approachable. Clear hierarchy, friendly typography, and generous breathing room kept the focus on appreciation and celebration without overworking the design. The goal was to let the image lead and support it with subtle, thoughtful structure.
That sense of authenticity matters. The Dog Spa is run by people who genuinely care about animals, including the owner’s experience with Siberian Huskies trained for competitive dog sledding. That depth of knowledge and passion is part of what customers respond to, and the design reflects that same balance of professionalism and joy.
The final ad serves as a simple thank you to the community for naming The Dog Spa Best Dog Groomer two years in a row, while staying true to the people and the place behind the business.
