For the 2022 Warrenton Wizard Walk, I created a custom newspaper called The Warrenton Warbler — a nod to the whimsical world of Harry Potter. Designed in black-and-white and styled after the Daily Prophet, the print edition featured a custom masthead built in Illustrator and a layout that broke every traditional pagination rule in the most magical way possible.
While the stories were written by others, I handled the layout and visual storytelling, working with our team to design every ad in the paper. We printed a limited number of copies, and word quickly spread — visitors traveled from out of town just to get their hands on a Warbler.
To take it further, we transformed the Warbler into a live-action web edition using Webflow.io — a platform that made it easy to display the project in Town Hall and promote it online. My team and I filmed short videos for each story, and I used Adobe After Effects to add sparkle and subtle motion, bringing the static newspaper to life. The digital paper ran in Town Hall throughout the day and was a crowd favorite, especially with kids and families watching their printed stories come alive.
